Using Data to Inform: The Strategic Schooling Model

Data help us answer the primary question "What do we do next?"

Each of these skills sets are components of a larger schema for educational reform that contributes to systemic and instructional accountability.  The Strategic Schooling Model as developed by Dennis Parker is used as the foundation for the Knox Educational Associates pedagogy and processes. The model includes the following components:

    strategic schooling diagram
  1. Targets: achievement targets, student targets, content targets.
  2. Feedback: data and examples of student work directly related to the targets.
  3. Know-How: the application of organizational, classroom, and personal expertise by educators, students and parents in an effort to hit the targets.
  4. Context: the physical conditions, beliefs, values, and assumptions at the school in which all of this occurs.

Setting and monitoring the targets is one of the most important processes in reform. The schools and staff that do this well succeed. Those that don’ are constantly wondering what impact their efforts are having on their students. Which group do you want to be a part of this year?
