Overview

Inside the Standards Toolkit

This year’s toolkits are greatly expanded and not only include all of the standards alignment documents and student worksheets we have created in the past, but the instructional strategies handbooks related to the various domains of the ELA standards. We have also created Excel workbooks for the ELA standards K-6 which correlate every blueprint standard with the phrasing from the released test questions for the CST. These workbooks have columns for teacher planning aligned with CST academic language, along with columns for benchmark pacing. Our goal is to support teachers in standards aligned planning so that students and teachers can get credit for their hard work on the CST.

Use the navigation bar to the left to access the various resources by grades and or subject.

California Content Standards

The California Department of Education (CDE) published all California Content Standards in “Blueprint” standards grids for each grade level showing the original standard plus the percent of the California Standards Test (CST) devoted to that standard.  These are available on their website at www.cde.ca.gov. We have taken these blueprints and added to them.

Knox Education has reformatted these “Blueprints” to include the actual Released Test Questions available to practice using these standards in the CST format, and added a Student Checklist for students to check off the times they learn the standard and when they have mastered it.  These grids are an excellent way of presenting the standards in a format that can be used by both teachers and students as a common ground for working with the standards, meeting grade level expectations, and helping students comprehend the language of the CST.

For grades K-12: these standards grids are available on our website in different formats.

Standards Grids in English for all content areas and grade levels
Standards Grids in Spanish (translated from the English version)

Standards Posters with the same standards information and language in very small type to be blown up to poster size for the classroom.  The only thing different from the originals is that the large introductory paragraphs for the subject have been removed.  All the standards, released test questions, and percentage of CST are the same.

For Grades K-6: We also offer Student-Friendly Standards in simpler English for struggling students and a separate Spanish translation. These were originally compiled by Michelle Karns of karnsconsulting.com and she has given us permission to post them on our website.

California Common Core Standards: we have included the new California Common Core Standards for each grade level.
