Each of the six weekly lesson sequences focuses on a
different aspect of sentence writing construction. Over the
course of a week students draft, revise, edit, and publish
perfect sentences of different types. There is also a
sequence for writing using transition words which is designed to
mimic the CELDT writing test and warm up students for the task of
writing to a pictorial prompt. These lessons do not need to
be run off for individual students. Teachers can use a
document camera or overhead projector to show the task and have
students do their individual writing on white boards or in a
notebook. These lessons were originally designed for the
Night Writer’s Project, but can easily be used for classroom
mini-lessons.
